ICCC Communications Fake News Artifact Audience Essay

ICCC Communications Fake News Artifact Audience Essay

ICCC Communications Fake News Artifact Audience Essay

Description

This is a description of what we needed to do for our project so you have more understanding behind it:

For your final project, you will create a media intervention which highlights how social media intersects with one of the following areas: privacy, sociality, the consumption of news and information, or political participation . A media intervention (http://www.publicsphereproject.org/node/331) is a mechanism that inserts an alternative message into public consciousness, specifically one that contrasts with the typical messaging presented by media companies and platforms. Media interventions can take several forms; we know them by other names, such as culture jamming, subvertisements, textual poaching, and tactical projects such as “billboard adjustment.” Your intervention should inform a specific audience about your chosen topic area and deliver a critical message that deserves widespread attention.

Importantly, your media intervention should address one of the conceptual junctures that we explored during the semester—for example, personal information, privacy, and social media, or freedom of speech, online news, and algorithms—and highlight how these intersections might contribute to inequality or problems in society. Your intervention should be a blend of critique and education, showcasing creativity and thoughtful reflection on the discussions we have had throughout the semester.

But what you will be answering are these two questions:

Who is the audience for this work? For example, are you creating work for people who are already familiar with these debates? For students and scholars? For people who have never thought about this issue before? Why is it important to reach this audience group?

What is the overall goal of this project? How does this artifact fit into the larger media landscape? How do you envision that your intervention might contribute to social change

The artifact we created was a website (provided the link below for you) I would recommend looking over it that way you have more of an understanding of what we did for the project. However, we are discussing the term digital literacy and it goes along with fake news, misinformation, and disinformation. Our goal for this project we are looking to help young adolescence (GEN Z) have more knowledge and be able to identify fake news pieces and have better digital literacy.

The website/artifact we created is provided at the top of the attachment. It is the top link!

  • There should also be up to two references for its writing and max 600 words. For the references refer to fake news done on social media platforms such as TikTok to help prove what are audiences and why this artifact fits into a larger media landscape.

Just as an understanding, the only thing you will be doing is answering the two questions above in bold and the rest is to help you answer those questions.
