8.2 Marginalized Culture Presentation

• You will research one culture or sub-culture that you perceive to be marginalized in American society (e.g. Hispanics, working-class people, elderly, disabled, Amish, Hmong).
• Research this group and put together a PowerPoint presentation of 6-8 slides addressing the following elements:
  • who belongs to this group and what is their history in America
  • how have they been marginalized in society- be specific and use evidence
  • what social effects or implications can be observed due to the marginalization (e.g., discrimination, access to health care, lack of input into official governance)
  • what do the members of the culture or sub-culture have to say about it
  • what specifically can be done about this (i.e., how can we integrate them into the dominant society, if we should at all).

• Use at least six scholarly sources. Your presentation slides will include citations. For instance, if you have a cited bullet point on slide #2, you should reference it (MLA or APA format) directly after or beneath the statement. Your final slide should be headed REFERENCES. Using MLA or APA formatting, cite your references just as you would for a research paper
